Terms of Service

1. Who we are

This website, sleepystories.uk ("Sleepy Stories", "we", "us"), is published by Flavio Gheri, an individual entrepreneur (micro-entrepreneur) registered in France under SIRET 10964230600012, trading under the commercial name "Sleepy Stories". Address: Cami del pendut, 31320 Pechbusque, France. Contact: lucy@sleepystories.uk. VAT is not applicable (Article 293 B of the French General Tax Code). The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. (340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA), and the domain is registered through Cloudflare, Inc. By using the site or placing an order you agree to these Terms.

2. What we offer

We create personalised, printed children's picture books. You upload a child's drawing and give us a few details; we turn these into a custom illustrated storybook and print and ship a physical copy to the address you provide, through our print-on-demand partner.

3. Creating your book

You choose the recipient's details and the story direction, and you can review, edit and regenerate the text and illustrations before you order. You are responsible for checking your book — including names, spelling and pictures — before placing the order. The version you approve at checkout is the version we print.

4. Use of Artificial Intelligence

Sleepy Stories uses generative artificial intelligence (AI) to create your book. The story text and the illustrations are generated by AI from the drawing you upload and the details you give us — they are not written or drawn by a human author or artist. When you plan or adjust your story using our on-screen chat, you are interacting with an automated AI assistant, not a person.

AI output can occasionally be inaccurate or unexpected, so you can review, edit and regenerate the words and pictures before ordering — the version you approve is the version we print. AI-generated images produced through our service may carry an invisible, machine-readable marker identifying them as AI-generated, consistent with EU transparency rules.

5. Your content and intellectual property

You keep ownership of the drawing and any other content you upload. By uploading it, you grant us a licence to use, store and adapt it for the purpose of creating, printing and delivering your book, and you confirm you have the right to do so and the consent of the child's parent or guardian. You must not upload content that infringes anyone's rights or that is unlawful. Subject to full payment, the finished book is for your personal, non-commercial use.

6. Orders, pricing and payment

Prices are shown on the site in euros and include any discount applied at checkout. Payment is taken securely at the time of order through our payment provider, Stripe. An order is confirmed once payment is completed. We may correct obvious pricing errors and decline or cancel an order where necessary.

7. Delivery

Books are printed to order and shipped to the address you provide. Estimated production and delivery times are indicative and not guaranteed. Risk passes to you on delivery. Please check that your shipping address and phone number are correct — we can't be responsible for orders that fail because of incorrect details.

8. Cancellations and returns

Because each book is made to your specifications and clearly personalised, the 14-day right of withdrawal for distance sales does not apply, in accordance with Article L221-28 of the French Code de la consommation (and Article 16(c) of Directive 2011/83/EU). This does not affect your legal guarantees. If your book arrives faulty, damaged or materially different from what you approved, contact us at lucy@sleepystories.uk and we will replace it or put it right.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service, upload unlawful or infringing content, attempt to disrupt the site, or use it other than as intended. We may suspend or refuse service where these Terms are breached.

10. Liability

We provide the service with reasonable care. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or unforeseeable loss. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including your mandatory rights as a consumer under French law.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published here at the time you place your order.

12. Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by French law, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence. For any question or complaint, contact us at lucy@sleepystories.uk.
